Follow any complaint down through its causes and you reach a root: a cause that nothing else on the chart explains. These are the roots found so far, ranked by how many conditions drain into them. Under each are the everyday complaints that trace down to it, with the shortest route written out. Most complaints reach more than one root.

Forces from outside Canada, such as world interest rates and global inflation, are on the chart as dead ends and left out of this ranking. They are real, and they are not Canada's to fix.
